2022 SKYWARN® Recognition Day

Fort Worth NWS CWA The 2022 SKYWARN® Recognition Day event is from Friday evening, December 2nd 18:00 (6PM) CST until Saturday December 3rd 18:00 (6PM) CST. Or in UTC time December 3, 2022, from 00:00 to 24:00 UTC.

SKYWARN™ Recognition Day (SRD) was developed in 1999 by the National Weather Service and the American Radio Relay League. It celebrates the contributions that SKYWARN™ volunteers make to the NWS mission, the protection of life and property.

Amateur radio operators comprise a large percentage of the SKYWARN™ volunteers across the country. The Amateur radio operators also provide vital communication between the NWS and emergency management if normal communications become inoperative.

All SKYWARN™ spotters provide critical weather information before, during and after adverse weather strikes. This includes reports of rain and snow, ice and wind, storms and tornadoes, flooding and fire. This is our 24 hours to recognize all of the SKYWARN™ spotters serving our nation!

Event certificates are electronic and printable from the main website at the conclusion of SKYWARN™ Recognition Day. To learn more, visit the national SKYWARN™ Recognition Day event website.

The WX5FWD SKYWARN™ Team plan to operate radio stations during the event from the Fort Worth NWS Warning Forecast Office on HF, VHF and UHF frequency bands, with the modes FM, SSB, IRLP, EchoLink, and Allstar. We will be on various HF bands. Our primary Radio over IP (RoIP) nodes are: EchoLink conference *WX5FWD*, IRLP 0010, and ALlstar HUB 516220. We have several additional EchoLink, IRLP and Allstar nodes for outgoing connections as well.
