The WX5FWD SKYWARN® Team is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The WX5FWD SKYWARN® Team organization is entirely supported by volunteers and donations. Although the NWS facilitates us to operate from the forecast office, the radio desk equipment and time are provided by volunteers and donations.

Volunteers and others donate, construct or support the radios and antenna systems. This includes four VHF/UHF antennas and the HF antenna. Volunteers donate or support Radio over Internet Protocol (RoIP / IRLP / EchoLink) systems and services for access to SKYWARN spotters in areas we cannot reach directly, radio to radio. There are monthly subscriptions for servers to provide EchoLink and IRLP conferences, this web site and email services for the radio desk. Also radio desk computers, software, subscriptions, maintenance and repair.

The radio equipment is starting to show its age, most radios are more than ten years old. The radios are a mixture of brands and models, which causes confusion for radio operators. During wide area events, we may operate from five or six radio positions simultaneously.

The team is hoping the replace the mixture of old radios with a single make and model. This will greatly reduce the operational complexity for our volunteer operators. At an expected total cost of a few thousand dollars for four to six radios, we need a little help to make this happen.

All of your contribution will be used for the WX5FWD SKYWARN radio desk equipment and systems, excluding transaction fees (PayPal or credit card).
